This year's ramadhan is marked with another reunion of the fifth generation of Seri Bentong. On 28 August 2010, this year's gathering was the third time I'd be able to orgaznize. In 2009 we gather at NZ curry house at Jalan Ampang near to KLCC. Two years ago was my first reunion after 5 years haven't met some of my former schoolmates and it was Mid Valley where the reunion was held. As for this year, Restoran Warisan was the place of our meeting.
2010 marked the tenth year of friendship for most of us. Since 2001 we were friends and this year reunion was meaningful to some. Unfortunately, the total comers are just 27, less than last year's 51 people. As the organizer, I felt a bit sad by the reception of some friends about the idea of meeting at Restoran Warisan. A buffet worth RM45 are just too expensive for some, while those who didn't mind spending their money just thought of a friendship value rather than ask what to eat for RM45. The chance to meet and catch up with some old buddies is what matter most to people who came that day. Some haven't met exactly 10 years. When reunion, it is a chance to exchange stories about our work, studies and what ever our current life is about. Some said, "Never mind. Today, social network would do just great for me catching up with you guys."
That kind of thought i agree, but just ask people who attend reunions about the feelings of meeting the old friends face to face. After all, friendship and the closeness that matters.
The reunion for the 10th anniversary of friendship was celebrated with warm reaction from all. Starting from taking pictures at the tallest flag pole till we ended up watching movies in Mid Valley, was a great memoir. To me, even the attendance is far less than last year's, I am glad this year reunion did went well and much more fun than previous one.
